Brief Rationale
The name 'The Native' simply derives from the definition itself, as the newspaper is intended to be distributed locally. We attempted to create something modish and current for our market (something that is eye-catching), hence the play with several distinct colors for the masthead and headlines shown above. We believe that the type of fonts used show a sense of professionalism (appropriate for a newspaper design), as well as helping in easing the readability for our readers. Also, in order to enhance our designs to look more realistic, we have placed in as much print advertisements as possible because advertisements are the main income generation for all newspaper organizations. Lastly, we have decided to use the quill as our newspaper design symbol as it illustrates the notion of freedom and creativity through writing.
